Doug
Jones has been an active beekeeper of over 30 years. He has a number of apiaries
on the Wirral. During the summer he works as a seasonal bee inspector for DEFRA.
This job involves inspecting honeybees on behalf of DEFRA for disease and
reporting back on the generally health of the honeybee population within his
area of work.
Doug has a passion for all things bees and will tell you "bees are in
his blood."
Robbie
Wood has been keeping bees since 1994 when he received his first swarm from the
well known Liverpool Beekeeper Arthur Gillet. Over the years this has
grown and he now has almost twenty stocks of bees which he keeps in the Halewood
and Tarbuck areas. The challenge of beekeeping is what interests Robbie,
"You try and follow the bees agenda to reap the rewards, but that is easier
said than done".
